stands for »Everday Technology for Senior Households« and is funded by the
German Research Society (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG). In this multi-disciplinary research project, designers at the Berlin University of the Arts work together with scholars from the Technical Universities in Berlin and Cottbus, as well as the Berlin Institute for Social Research. Goal of our research is to develop products and services for a continuously aging society so that older people can maintain their independence in everyday life for as long as possible. At the Berlin University of the Arts, Institute for Product and Process Design (Prof. Achim Heine), designers Karin Schmidt-Ruhland and Mathias Knigge work on the positioning and development of senior- friendly products. In their projects, they consider the particular needs and wishes of older individuals without limiting form and function to this user group.
